Est. 1993: The Oldest Latin Restaurant in Western North Carolina
Salsa’s opened its doors on this same downtown Asheville corner in 1993 - the oldest Latin-influenced restaurant in downtown Asheville and in Western North Carolina. Chef Hector Diaz built it from nothing into a true Asheville institution, and in doing so he paved the way for the entire Latin food scene the city enjoys today. For more than three decades he’s brought original recipes from across Latin America and the Caribbean to this corner of Patton Avenue - fresh, local ingredients, hand-squeezed juices, and a personality you can taste in every dish. Hector Diaz is a legend of the Asheville restaurant scene, and Salsa’s is proud to be where it all started - a true cornerstone of the city’s food culture, celebrated by the New York Times, BBC, Southern Living, and more.
